Subject:TARDIS-Verse reading order
Event type:Sticky
Security:Public

I've had a number of folks ask about the order for the TARDIS*-verse stories. The easiest way to read them is at Extraordinary Lines, which has the neat "series" function. If you prefer FF.net, though, here's the order (in terms of how it follows the show) so far. The order in which I wrote them follows in parentheses, but were I you, I'd go with "show order."

  1. TARDIS-time and relative dimension in space (written first)

  2. Objects in Space (written ninth)

  3. Calculation (written third)

  4. Nighthawks (runs concurrent with Calculation; written fifth)

  5. Until (written eighth)

  6. Unexpected Light (written fourth)

  7. Maybe I'll Miss You (written seventh)

  8. Danger in Blue (written eleventh)

  9. Dawn Before the Rest of the World (written eighteenth)

  10. Stop Making Sense (written fourteenth)

  11. Stupid Mouth Shut (written sixth)

  12. Circle 'Round the Sun  (written second)

  13. The Possibility of Possibility (written twelfth)

  14. Memento Vivere (written tenth)

  15. For Now And Then (written thirteenth)

  16. Kith and Kin (written seventeenth)

  17. Picturesque and Mythical (written fifteenth)

  18. History, Moving Quickly (written sixteenth)

  19. Home to You (written nineteenth)

*What is the TARDIS-verse, you ask? Despite the name, this is not a Dr. Who crossover, just borrowing the idea of being outside of regular time and space. Beginning with Killshot, it's a series of stories that are either explicitly episode associated (i.e., post-eps or missing scenes), or taking place between episodes. In these stories, Castle and Beckett use "Time Outs" as an opportunity to spend time together and progress in their relationship without the pressure of it "counting" in the daylight. They're very loosely related and self-contained for the most part, so you can dip into them at will.

Sorry if you also follow me on Tumblr and this is a repeat . . .

Title: Listen

Rating: T

Word Count: ~1800

Summary: "He didn't expect her to come. Not so easily, anyway. He'd planned to beg. To make a big deal out of the way Kyra had insisted. She had, after all. Kyra. He wonders how much she has to do with this. What she might have said to Beckett and if this is pity. How entirely this is pity. He doesn't care, exactly. Because he's lonely and she came with him." Episode tag for A Rose Forever After (2 x 12)

Title: Forget, Ch. 4

WC: ~2300, this chapter; 8100 so far

Rating: T

Summary: "It's been seventy-one days since she told him that she needed time. Seventy-one days of the only silence that matters. Wherever she is, he'll never be any nearer." Set between seasons 3 and 4—really in the middle of "Rise," (4 x 01) I suppose. And AU, I guess? The premise is that Beckett is back in the city for weeks before she returns to the 12th.

Meraki — (Greek.) Doing something with soul, creativity, or love — when you put "something of yourself" into what you're doing, whatever it may be.

She dropping it behind her like an afterthought. Like it's the second biggest nuisance in her life, and he's still number one." Alternate ending for 1 x 06, Always Buy Retail.

Title: Kindness Yet

WC: 3000

Rating: T

Summary: "He's drunk on her doorstep with a single red rose. It's New Year's Eve, closing in on midnight, and he's looking at her like she's the last person in the world he ever expected to see." Set season 4 (NYE, 2011–2012).

A/N: Something from sick, busy, more-sleepless-than-usual Brain for the last day. Not as good as Cora Clavia's "a compact revolution," but born of the same conversation that Castle never really employs the in vino veritas device.

We'll take a cup of kindness yet

For auld lang syne.

Thanks to Cora Clavia for thinking the Madame Bovary joke was funny and . . . I guess thanks to her for championing Chuck? IDK.

The schmoop, I am afraid, I can blame on no one but Brain.

A/N: Split the last chapter into two as it got long. I need to edit the second, but I'll put it up later. That's definitely it then.
